“The first time I ever saw your face”

We met for coffee at “Bibliocafe”, the library coffee shop on campus. We had been Facebook friends chatting for weeks and when I finally saw Cam in person I said “Are you Cam?” (as if I didn’t know???) eventually followed by.. “I’m sorry, I already bought coffee”. 

I was worried my in-person conversation skills would be lacking, that the whole interaction would be awkward. But, right after Cam got their coffee, we began an endless stream of back and forth story-telling and sharing of random facts. We sat by the water fountain outside and I remember feeling happy and grateful. Cam had an afternoon class, so our visit was short but sweet, and I skipped away (yes.. I really was skipping- not walking) I said to myself quite clearly- I don’t know what role Cam will play in my life but I am certain it is permanent.

That never changed. 

I have seen so many versions of Cam over the past decade and I have loved each and every one of them. We have grown-up together and I am so excited to see where our adventure takes us next. 

With Cam, I am becoming the best version of me that laughs without restriction, dances without shame, and sings without fear of rejection. 

Cam is my best friend. Cam is my partner.

And I can’t wait to share this moment of our lives with you.
